Chauvin is a monster.

I watched the first two days of the Derek Chauvin trial. I actually had to stop watching it because they kept referring to it as the George Floyd trial. Please give that man in death, the respect he deserved but never received from the cops that fateful day. George is not on trial, Chauvin is. Most notable was how well those Black men spoke and defended themselves, not because I was expecting them to not be able to - but because this is a very emotional matter. They didn’t let defense get them flustered. They didn’t get overly emotional. They understood the assignment. I am hoping that this bears a heavy weight on the jury when deciding. I cannot get too wrapped up in the trial as I have lost all faith completely in this system. I read this article in The New Yorker that gave a pretty unbiased overview of what’s happened so far. If you’re interested, give it a read. Black people, please take care of yourself. You do not need to immerse yourself in this trial just to keep up with current events. You do not need to relive the traumatic events from that day. Remember to rest and find joy daily. I love you Black people.
